Also known as: Fraud Detection Platform, Traffic Quality Tool
An Ad Fraud Detection Platform is third-party software that scores incoming traffic and conversions for fraud signals such as bots, click farms, proxy use and duplicate identities. It flags or blocks suspect activity before it is paid on.
These platforms inspect each click and conversion in real time, comparing it against fraud signals: is the IP a known datacenter or proxy, is the device fingerprint reused across many conversions, is the click-to-conversion timing inhuman, does the identity duplicate another. Each event gets a risk score, and traffic above a threshold is flagged or blocked before commission is booked.
On the broker side, this is the gate that separates real FTDs from manufactured ones, protecting the payout pool from bot traffic and incentivised or duplicated conversions. On the partner side, the same tools are a defence: running your own traffic through a fraud check before you send it catches bought bot traffic early, so you never hand a broker a batch that its own platform will later reject, taking your payout and possibly the partnership with it.
Clicks and conversions from the partner's link reach the broker's pages.
The platform gathers IP, device, behavioural and identity data per event.
Each event is scored against bot, proxy and duplication signals.
Events above the threshold are blocked or held for review.
Flagged conversions are not paid until the partner clears review.
The partner drops the sources feeding flagged traffic to protect standing.
Why it matters for partnership: Brokers use these tools to decide which of a partner's conversions are genuine. A partner whose traffic repeatedly trips fraud filters faces clawbacks and account closure, so understanding what these platforms detect helps legitimate partners keep their traffic clean.
A broker runs its landing-page traffic through Anura. It flags a spike of conversions from datacenter IPs on one affiliate's link as bot traffic, so those conversions are withheld pending review.
| Approach | Logic | Effect on traffic |
|---|---|---|
| Whitelist / allowlist | Permit only proven-good sources | Blocks everything unverified by default |
| Blacklist / blocklist | Block only known-bad sources | Permits everything not yet flagged |
| Real-time scoring | Score each event on the fly | Flags fraud the block lists have not caught yet |
Screen your own traffic with a fraud tool before you send it, especially when buying from new sources; catching bots first protects you from clawbacks and reputation damage.
Buying cheap traffic without vetting it, then losing the whole payout and the partnership when the broker's fraud platform flags it.
Bot and datacenter traffic, click fraud, proxy/VPN use, device-fingerprint anomalies and duplicate or related-party conversions.
